Where students live in Madrid

Moncloa and Ciudad Universitaria sit next to the main campuses of the Complutense and Politécnica universities, which makes them the classic student areas. Argüelles and Chamberí are close by and well connected, while Getafe and Leganés are home to campuses of Universidad Carlos III.

Wherever you study, check the metro or commuter rail line from the room to your faculty. A slightly longer ride can mean a bigger room or a lower rent.

Erasmus accommodation: when to book

Demand peaks before each semester starts, so the best rooms for September go during the summer and those for the spring semester in late autumn. Booking early gives you the widest choice of areas and prices.

Make sure the stay covers your exams as well as your classes. Each Tenify listing shows the available dates and the minimum stay, so you can match it to your academic calendar.

Internship housing in Madrid

Internships rarely line up with a full-year lease. Mid-term rentals let you rent a furnished room for exactly the months you need, with the rent quoted per month.

Frequently asked questions

Can I book student accommodation in Madrid before arriving?

Yes. Everything happens online: choose a room, complete a quick identity check and send your request. You are only charged once the landlord approves.

Can I rent just for one semester?

Yes. Many places accept stays from one month, so a four- or five-month Erasmus semester is no problem. Check the minimum stay on each listing.

Is it a student residence or a shared flat?

Both are listed. Each listing says what kind of place it is and what is included, such as cleaning, bills or meals.

Do I need a guarantor?

Tenify asks every tenant for a one-time identity check. Whether a landlord asks for anything else, such as a deposit, is stated on the listing.
